Ocean Powered by Steam - Spiral Version
My favorite recent movement in art, clothing, jewelry, whatever is steampunk. I've been wanting to mix shells and the steampunk aesthetic for a while, and I finally did it! These earrings represent my first forays into beachy steampunk (shell punk? Yes, shell punk), and I'm really enjoying what I see.
These oyster shells have been coated in UV resin to help add strength and also enhance their natural beauty. Shells were gathered from Fort Monroe Outlook Beach in Virginia. The shells are strung using copper wire and decorative gears. The chain is comprised of spiral shells, brass and silver tone beads, and faceted brass metal beads. Silver-tone pearl clasp.
Necklace measures 17" long. Center oyster is 2.5" long.
