One of the first places my husband took me to when we first started dating was Fort Monroe. He’s an avid fan of the Casemate Museum, and we now frequent the beaches there. I’m always struck at the small stature of the Old Point Comfort Lighthouse, but I try to imagine in welcoming in sailors and troops at the old fort. The lighthouse here is bead embroidered with hammered brass replicating the light.
This piece was created specifically for the "From the Sea to the Stars" exhibit at the Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center in Hampton, Virginia.
20" chain, centerpiece measures 3 3/4" wide (brass light), 4 3/4" tall. Lobster clasp.
