Ocean Powered by Steam - Choker Version
My favorite recent movement in art, clothing, jewelry, whatever is steampunk. I've been wanting to mix shells and the steampunk aesthetic for a while, and I finally did it! These earrings represent my first forays into beachy steampunk (shell punk? Yes, shell punk), and I'm really enjoying what I see.
These oyster shells have been coated in UV resin to help add strength and also enhance their natural beauty. My shells were gathered from Fort Monroe Outlook Beach in Virginia. The shell is strung using copper wire and decorative gears. The chain is comprised of brass chain, with additional decorative gears in copper, brass and a plated silver. Pewter toggle clasp.
Necklace measures 14" long. Center oyster is 2 1/2" long.
