Bollywood Meets SteamPunk
This necklace was created for the Etsy-Beadweavers September Challenge "Bollywood." I really enjoy the colors and layers of the jewelry worn by India's Bollywood stars, so this was a particularly fun challenge to work on! I'm also a big fan of the SteamPunk movement and wanted to fuse the two movements.
This necklace starts with a cabochon of watch gears, cogs and other parts encased in clear resin. The resin components are then embroidered around with gold seed beads, backed with ultrasuede.
The choker continues with right angle weave created by using beading thread and needle, weaving the copper-colored glass seed beads into a flat chain, gradually getting smaller. The choker then drips into graduated cascades of copper seed beads and Indian glass in various shades of brown. Copper diamond drops accent the center, along with another resin cabochon encased in seed beads.
The necklace clasps with a button and loop closure featuring a gold and black button.
